FWHR Calculator

Upload one front photo. The AI estimates your facial width-to-height ratio (cheekbone width divided by the height from your brows to your upper lip) and shows what is driving it.

Use a straight-on front photo, head level, neutral face. Photo discarded immediately after scoring. No signup.

What Drives Your fWHR

The ratio is one number. These four reads explain it.

Cheekbone width

How wide and prominent your cheekbones read. Cheekbone width is the top half of the ratio.

Midface compactness

How short the distance is from your brows to your upper lip. A more compact midface raises the ratio.

Jaw width

How wide your jaw is compared with your cheekbones. A jaw close to cheekbone width makes a face read wider overall.

Brow ridge

How defined your brow ridge is. A strong brow frames the upper face and sets the top of the height measurement.

Low, Average And High fWHR

Where your ratio lands, and what each range means.

Longer face
Low fWHR
fWHR under 1.75

Your face reads longer than it is wide in the middle third.

Where most faces land
Average fWHR
fWHR 1.75 to 1.94

Your width and height are in the typical range.

Wide, compact face
High fWHR
fWHR 1.95 and up

Your face reads wide and compact through the middle third, the look looksmaxxers usually aim for.

How The fWHR Calculator Works

Step 1
Upload a front photo

Straight on, head level, neutral expression, whole face visible. Tilting the head changes the ratio.

Step 2
AI measures two distances

Cheekbone to cheekbone for the width, and brow line to upper lip for the height. The ratio is width divided by height.

Step 3
See what drives it

You get your ratio, a low, average or high read, four supporting scores, and the change that most affects how wide your face reads.

What Is fWHR?

fWHR, or facial width-to-height ratio, is the width of your face at the cheekbones divided by the height of your upper face, measured from the brow line to the top of the upper lip. In looksmaxxing, a higher fWHR is usually treated as more masculine and compact.

Some studies have found that faces with a higher fWHR are rated as more dominant by observers. Average values differ between studies and measuring methods, so treat any cut-off as a rough guide rather than a rule. Most adult faces land roughly between 1.7 and 2.1.

A photo-based fWHR is an estimate. Lens distance, head tilt and expression all move it, so compare results taken the same way and look at the trend.

How To Make Your Face Read Wider

You can't change bone width, but you can change how it reads.

Get leaner

Lower body fat shows the full width of your cheekbones and sharpens the jaw, so the face reads wider and more compact.

Choose the right haircut

Lots of height on top stretches the face vertically. Moderate height with some side volume keeps it reading compact.

Use facial hair

A short, even beard can widen the lower face and make a narrow jaw read closer to cheekbone width.

Take a straight photo

Shoot at eye level from arm's length or further. Close, low or tilted angles distort the ratio.

What If You Don't Like Your Ratio?

fWHR is one measurement, not a verdict. A few things worth knowing:

  • •It is mostly bone. The ratio comes from your skeleton, so no exercise changes it. What you can change is how wide and defined your face reads.
  • •Photos move the number. Head tilt and lens distance shift the estimate. Retake it straight on at eye level before drawing conclusions.
  • •Attractiveness is more than one ratio. Plenty of faces with an average or low fWHR read great. Skin, hair, leanness and grooming matter at least as much.

fWHR Calculator FAQ

What is fWHR?+

fWHR, facial width-to-height ratio, is the width of the face at the cheekbones divided by the height of the upper face, measured from the brow line to the top of the upper lip.

How do I calculate my fWHR?+

Upload a straight-on front photo and the calculator estimates both distances from facial landmarks and divides width by height. To do it by hand, measure cheekbone to cheekbone and brow line to upper lip on a straight photo, then divide the first by the second.

What is a good fWHR?+

In looksmaxxing, around 1.9 to 2.0 or higher is usually called a high fWHR. Averages differ between studies and measuring methods, and most adult faces land roughly between 1.7 and 2.1.

Is this fWHR calculator free?+

Yes. It is free, needs no signup, and your photo is discarded right after scoring.

How accurate is a photo-based fWHR?+

It is an estimate. Head tilt, expression and lens distance all change the measurement, so use a straight-on photo at eye level and compare results taken the same way.

Can you increase your fWHR?+

Not the bone ratio itself. You can change how wide your face reads: getting leaner shows the cheekbones, and haircut and facial hair choices change the face's visual proportions.

Does fWHR matter for attractiveness?+

It is one factor among many. Some studies link higher fWHR with faces seen as more dominant, but skin, hair, leanness, grooming and overall harmony matter at least as much.

What is the difference between fWHR and the midface ratio?+

fWHR compares face width to upper face height. The midface ratio compares the distance between the pupils with the distance from the pupils to the mouth. Both describe how compact the middle of the face is, measured in different ways.
