Side Profile Test

Upload a side photo. The AI rates your jawline, gonial angle, chin, forward growth, nose and neck line, estimates your jaw angle, and tells you the one trait to work on first.

Use a true side view: head level, chin neutral, whole profile visible. Ask a friend or use a timer. Photo discarded right after scoring.

The Six Traits This Test Rates

A side profile shows things a front photo hides. These are the six that matter most.

Jawline

How sharp and defined your jaw reads from the side, running from the ear to the chin.

Gonial angle

The jaw corner below your ear. A crisp, defined angle reads strongest; a soft or rounded one reads weaker.

Chin projection

Whether your chin sits in line with your lips or behind them. Chin projection changes the whole profile.

Forward growth

Forward growth of the midface and upper jaw, the 'maxilla' looksmaxxers talk about, and how much support it gives the cheeks.

Nose balance

Nose size and shape in balance with your chin and the rest of the profile.

Neck and jaw line

The line from your neck to your jaw. A clean, close-to-right angle reads sharp; a soft line reads heavier.

The Three Profile Levels

Your profile score puts you in one of three levels.

Most room to improve
Recessed
Profile score under 55

Parts of your profile sit back from the line that reads strongest, usually the chin, the midface or the neck-to-jaw line.

Where most people land
Balanced
Profile score 55 to 74

Your profile is in proportion, with one or two traits holding it back from reading sharp.

Top tier
Forward Grown
Profile score 75 and up

A strong, forward-grown profile: good chin projection, a defined jaw and a clean neck line.

How The Side Profile Test Works

Step 1
Upload a side photo

Turn 90 degrees, keep your head level and your chin neutral, and make sure your whole profile is visible. A friend or a timer helps.

Step 2
AI rates six traits

Jawline, gonial angle, chin, forward growth, nose and neck line each get a score from 1 to 10, plus a gonial angle estimate and an E-line read.

Step 3
Get your work-on-first trait

You get an overall profile score, the trait with the most room to improve without surgery, and quick wins to start with.

What Is A Side Profile Test?

A side profile test rates your face from the side, where traits like chin projection, jaw angle and forward growth are easy to see. In looksmaxxing the side profile is often called the 'PSL side profile' and gets judged separately from the front.

Two measurements come up most. The gonial angle is the angle at the corner of your jaw; most adult men fall roughly between 110 and 130 degrees. The E-line runs from the tip of your nose to the front of your chin; lips sitting on or just behind it usually read balanced.

A photo is a snapshot. Head tilt, lens distance and posture all shift how a profile reads, so retest the same way each time and look at the trend.

How To Improve Your Side Profile

The non-surgical changes that make the biggest difference.

Fix your posture

Forward head posture pushes the chin back and blurs the neck line. Keeping your head stacked over your shoulders sharpens the whole profile.

Get leaner

Lower body fat tightens the area under the chin and makes the jaw corner read more defined.

Groom for your profile

Even stubble or a short, shaped beard can add visual definition to a weak chin or jaw line.

Take a better photo

Shoot from a little distance at head height. Close-up phone lenses distort the nose and shrink the chin.

What If You Don't Like Your Score?

Your score is a snapshot, not a verdict. A few things worth knowing:

  • •Soft tissue moves more than you think. Body fat, posture and grooming change how your jawline, chin and neck read, even though bone structure stays the same.
  • •Angles matter. A slight downward tilt or a close wide-angle lens can drop your score a lot. Retest at head height from further away.
  • •Be careful with quick fixes. Claims that mewing or bonesmashing reshape your bones are not backed by evidence. Stick to what works: leanness, posture, grooming.

Side Profile Test FAQ

What is a side profile test?+

A side profile test rates your face from the side. This one scores six traits from 1 to 10 (jawline, gonial angle, chin projection, forward growth, nose balance and the neck-to-jaw line), estimates your gonial angle, checks your lips against the E-line, and names the trait to work on first.

Is the side profile test free?+

Yes. It is free, needs no signup, and your photo is discarded right after scoring.

What photo works best?+

A true side view: turn 90 degrees, head level, chin neutral, in even light, with your whole profile from forehead to neck visible. Shoot from a little distance at head height, not a close-up selfie.

What is a good gonial angle?+

Most adult men fall roughly between 110 and 130 degrees. In looksmaxxing a crisper angle toward the lower end of that range usually reads as a sharper jaw, but how defined the angle looks matters as much as the number.

What is the E-line?+

The E-line is a straight line from the tip of your nose to the front of your chin. Lips sitting on or slightly behind it usually read balanced; lips well ahead of it can make the chin read weaker.

What does forward growth mean?+

Forward growth describes how far the midface and upper jaw (the maxilla) project forward. A forward-grown face has good support under the eyes and cheeks; a recessed midface looks flatter from the side.

Can I improve my side profile without surgery?+

Yes, to a point. Getting leaner, fixing forward head posture and grooming (especially facial hair) all change how your profile reads. Bone structure itself does not change from exercises.

How is this different from the PSL test?+

The PSL test rates your overall face from the front and places you on the PSL scale. The side profile test looks at traits you can only see from the side. Many people take both.
